TEAM CANOE - ALL WINNERS!!!

Thank you to all the Freeport Electric employees who volunteered to participate in The Great Freeport Canoe Races on Sunday, August 7,  2005.  Members of the Electric Department paired up with special needs athletes in order to compete in the races.  These participants, also known as Team Canoe, were the first team to compete and they were off and racing at around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.  The air was filled with cheering and excitement as the racers headed towards the finish line.   The first, second and third place finishers received medals but all the participants were winners.  All of the Team Canoe racers and volunteers were given certificates of participation.  Hubert M. Bianco, Superintendent of Electric Utilities, accepted an appreciation plaque from the special needs athletes thanking Freeport Electric for its participation in the races. We also have to commend Team Canoe Coach Marianne Endo and the event sponsors Freeport Police Athletic League for helping to make this event such a success.
